Aware of our country’s complex history, we are intentional about welcoming all people into our beloved church community.
We will always try our best to treat all persons with equal respect and concern as beloved children of God.
We will examine ourselves, our practices and policies, and will seek to always be open to God’s transforming Holy Spirit to reform and transform our actions and lives together. We will intentionally, and in Christian love, be accountable to God and to each other in our language, actions and behavior. We will act as peacemakers and seekers of inclusivity: “God calls the church to work for justice in the world. . .seeking dignity and freedom for all people,. . .bearing witness against systems of violence and oppression; and redressing wrongs against individuals, groups and peoples.”
Our Mission
The First Presbyterian Church of Wooster is a covenant community on a spiritual journey in response to what God has done for us in Christ. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we join together to:
We go forth into the world to:
The First Presbyterian Church congregation reflects the diversity of the Wooster community, including traditional and non-traditional families, single people, college students, and many people of seminary experience. This church family strives to be multicultural, intergenerational, and inclusive, welcoming all who seek to follow Jesus Christ. Won’t you consider joining us for Sunday worship or one of our many activities?
First Presbyterian Church is deeply involved with numerous community programs and has been instrumental in founding many of them. Some of our partnerships are with the Viola Startzman Free Clinic, Habitat for Humanity, and People to People Ministries.
